Conservation & Partnership Director

WWF-Korea was opened in 2014 and now is looking for passionate people who have the drive to conserve the nature and solve the environmental problems.
WWF-Korea is concentrating on 2 key conservation pillars (i) Oceans Conservation and (ii) Climate & Energy. Within the Oceans conservation programme, WWF-Korea is working to force the sustainability from  fishery to seafood and protect the marine environment. And within the Climate & Energy programme, WWF-Korea is now contributing to build a low carbon future through ambitious targets and scale up the renewable energy.

Main purpose:

The senior director of conservation and partnership is double hats job which responsible for role and responsibility of country conservation director (= chief conservation officer) and corporate partnership director. He/she works under the supervision of WWF-Korea EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR and lead and manage Korea national office conservation programs so to achieve the critical contributions. And also responsible to secure the fundraising from public and private sectors and network offices and manage the portfolio of partnerships and lead the successful engagements

He/she supervise conservation practice program managers and corporate partnership manager. And manage capacity and competency of conservation programs and partnership engagements.
 

Main responsibilities:

Korea Conservation Director (Chief Conservation Program Officer)

  • Lead planning and execution of strategies and focus programs of conservation practice  programs (currently oceans conservation and climate and energy programs) aligning with international practice goal and outcomes and customized it for Korea market.

  • Communicate with global practice leaders and network conservation directors on global initiatives collaboration, pain points and success lessons learnt

  • Work closely with marketing & communication and fundraising colleagues to ensure corporate work is aligned to and delivering on strategic priorities.

  • Lead conservation teams on product development for technical input, content and expertise for transformational engagement.

  • Coordinate with Marketing Communications on marketing and media-based tie-ups with corporations to help grow WWF market awareness and supporters loyalty.

  • Builds effective partnerships with key stakeholders including those from government, corporate and NGO sectors in order to achieve strategic outcomes. Manages technical based collaboration with corporate sector, governments and other NGOs;

  • Works with relevant programme leaders across the WWF Network to support the delivery of both WWF-Korea and WWF Global strategic outcomes. Represents WWF in relevant national and international fora. Acts as a WWF spokesperson on programme issues in various forms and with media;

  • manage and supervise conservation program managers (currently oceans conservation practice and climate and energy practice), senior officer/officers of oceans conservation program and senior officer/officers of climate and energy program

  • Design the growth of conservation programs aligned with office growth strategy

  • Capacity and competency management of conservation programs team with hiring and training directional approach so to achieve the critical contribution outcomes

 
Korea Partnership Director

  • Establish, strengthen and maintain partnerships with a broad range of corporate stakeholders to deliver outcomes on sustainable business practices, communications/awareness building and philanthropy.

  • Take responsibility of fundraising from public and private sectors, and networks from scanning fund opportunities, developing proposals and negotiations, successful project engagement, to accounts management.

  • Take responsibility of due diligence and partnership guideline compliance in office partnership management

  • Develop strategy and manage the corporate marketing partnership with licensing, communication and awareness, and philanthropy.

  • Be familiar with all sustainability standards, tools and other sustainability performance measures to initiate productive synergies with corporate targets. Keep abreast of developments in priority business sectors and identify risks and opportunities for WWF partnership objectives. Understand the areas WWF and corporations can form strategic and/or project-based partnerships using drivers of corporate performance and creating synergies for the mutual benefit of both organizations

  • Cowork with Marketing Communications on all corporate communications, newsletters, invitations to fora and workshops, etc. Work with Marketing Communications to establish and deliver communications plans and strategies for each corporate partnership.

  • Ensures effective fundraising and proposal development. Ensures effective reporting for programme and corporate partnerships;

  • Manage and supervise corporate partnership manager and conservation project officer, and will hire and manage partnership development officer

  • Design the growth and sustainable partnership program aligned with office growth strategy

  • Build and manage the relationship with executives of corporate, external organizations

  • Manage capacity and competency of account management, partnership proposal development, new partnership development, sustainable partnership management

  • Will hire public sector partnership manager and expand fundraising from public sector

  • As a key differentiator of WWF, partnership with public and private sector is under growing. Through collaborative partnership, WWF-Korea engage at sustainable business of companies and organizations so to drive sustainable business practices.

 
As a member of Senior Management Team

  • Discuss about office operational matters and make a decision on policies and actions

  • Determine causes of issues and resolve issues promptly based on SMT’s collaborated discussions and efforts

  • Induction on WWF and WWF conservation programs, and WWF-Korea programs to new joiners, Introduction speeches on WWF conservation programs to companies, schools, and meetings with local NGO communities as a WWF-Korea conservation programs represent

 

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong organization leadership and people management skills

  • Planning the strategy and programs skills with specialized understanding of business

  • Ability to judgement and prompt decision so to avoid confusion and resolve conflicts

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in both English and Korean

  • Demonstrated ability to manage organizations with profit and loss responsibility

  • Commitment to, and demonstrated ability to work well as leader of a team

  • Ability to work as a spoke person or represent of organization with technical skills

  • Ability to present or write knowledgeable documents with logical insights
